Casual Days

We can't be glamorous every day! The perfect casual days lie between Christmas and New Years. I know everyone I see is very low key this week, even at work and then BAM we will hit them with it on the last eve of 2009! ha ha ha  A couple of my new 'babies' are in this post.... I got the beautiful bracelet and killer wedge shoes (by Tommy Girl) for Christmas. The rest I have had for a while.. pants by Guess, vest from Old Navy and scarf purchased in China. Enjoy the last 2 days of 2009...

I hope everyone had a beautiful Christmas holiday! Mine has been busy, busy! I can't wait to show you my new 'babies' that I got! However, today is the last day to vote for my shoe design  in the Steve Madden contest, so please click the link to the right to vote. I promise more fashion pics to come very, very soon! Everyone be safe and stay warm :) xoxoxo

Disco Queen

I would love to wear this outfit for NYE, but it is way out of my price range! The sparkly dress with earrings to match, the fun purse, the shoes are so adorable and would also be comfortable for a long night out complete with dancing :).... and who doesn't want a pair of blue suede shoes?!!? ha ha ha Wonder if what I actually wear will be anything close to this. The question is: which coat would you wear with this outfit?

Purple Reign, Purple Reign

Isn't purple just a royal color?!! Purple looks good on any skin tone too! I would wear this outfit to one of my more conservative holiday parties... of course I was fooling around with the hat and cigar and was not smoking! But, the hat does lend a little playfulness to the outfit. I kept it monochrome with varying shades of rich purple and used seasonal fabrics such as satin and velvet to feel like the holidays, without my usual sparkle ha ha ha. I could see anyone wearing this to a corporate party, dinner with parents/in laws, cocktail event....you get the picture... not a lot of skin or flashiness going on. I will save that for NYE! Dress is vintage Copperknob, shoes are (gorgeous with the silver piping - did you see?!) from twentyone, YSL cosmetic bag used as a purse and a vintage JCPenney blazer (I have seriously owned this thing for years).

Dear Santa,

Besides the usual love, peace, happiness and health..... thought I would make your work a little easier this year with my top ten list! Of course any gift is always appreciated :) and awaaaaaay we go...

  1. The Fountain of Youth (or closest thing to it) Lancome Genifique
  2. Bare Minerals Mineral Veil and Eyelid Primer (does this count as 2 items?!)
  3. Nine West Rontae boots in black and Electra in brown (don't see my sizes in these, but you ARE Santa!)
  4. Wedge Lace Ups from e-bay in black
  5. Dolce and Gabbana black, suede wedges ( or similar style! - I have been THAT good, promise!)
  6. Nike running shoes (black/ purple color)
  7. Nike workout capris (recurring theme here is to work out in the new year, well more than in the old year)
  8. Michael Kors purse (yes in the burgundy/ wine color)
  9. Forever 21 dress (for NYE! - at this price everyone can still afford to go out, just in case I need to buy for myself)
  10. Gap jeans ( the wardrobe "must have" for now and the spring - yes light wash jeans are BACK!)
Should I do a top 20 list?!? You know.... just in case or for everyone else that wants to shower me with gifts! No, I will leave it at this and be thankful - everyone have a safe and happy holiday! xoxoxoxo

Ruffles & Bows

As promised - here is another holiday look for one of your upcoming parties! Perfect for any party, except corporate, since it is low cut and short. I feel really girly in this outfit with the ruffles down the dress and the bows and sequins on the shoes. (Here I go with the shiny objects again ha ha ha). I thought the dress and shoes did enough talking, so I kept the jewelry minimal with diamond, flower shaped studs. To avoid looking too 'done', I just pulled my hair back into a mid pony tail and pulled out a few loose strands. I just had to do the red lips with the rest of the silver / grey outfit. The dress is from a boutique I visited in Charlotte, the shoes are Twenty One, and the coat is FAUX fur from Charlotte Russe!  Tip of the day: You do not have to spend money on new shoes! Last year I wanted a similar look, so I took a pair of grey snakeskin sandals that had a beaten up wood heel and I simply grabbed some strong glue and loose sequins from my local craft store. Next just put glue on the heel of the shoe and start sprinkling the sparkle! I did just the heels so it would not look cheap since it was a DIY job! Have fun and be safe xoxox

Holiday Party Time!!!!! Ohhhh I love to dress up, especially around holiday time when less people stare at all of my sparkles ha ha ha. As I have said before, I adore anything that shines and this is the season to break them all out. Luckily for me, sparkle, sequins and shine are all in this season and even just a little will go a long way. I just purchased this tunic at the local Goodwill.... so go now as some thrift stores purposefully stash their shiny stuff for this time of year. This tunic would be great for any woman, any age, any size due to the cut and the fact that it simply has a few sequins on the front and the rest is silver threading. I like it as a dress, (which I put over a black slip and solid black tights) but it would also look good (and a little more conservative) with black pants,  a black skirt or even leggings for a little more coverage. I live and learn like the rest of the world and next time I would wear some black boy shorts underneath so I would feel a little more comfortable. The shoes are Chinese Laundry- and the suede with patent cutouts is super sexy. Over the next few posts I will show you different looks for different parties and get your imaginations flowing... have fun with your clothes!

I won!! Thank you Fashion Champagne and Pink Peas!

Sooooooooooooo I entered a competition that Kirsty B of Fashion Champagne was holding and I won!!! I was so excited to get my prize in the mail. Chrisi of Pink Peas collaborated on this competition and made this beautiful headband. I love it! Be sure to check out her site on Etsy for great Christmas gifts (don't forget yourself).

Today is absolutely one of those dreadful cold, rainy days and I needed a pick me up (besides coffee!) so I decided to brighten my outfit with this flower headband. I have had compliments all day. I would wear this with so many outfits but today it is a vintage, velvet blazer, Tarjay tshirt, Guess pants and Nine West boots. The bracelet is from South Africa!

Chillin on a Sunday Afternoon....

Fellas - no more excuses! There is no reason you can't look stylish, be comfortable and also be just as versatile as the ladies. This outfit is a perfect example. Chill out in vintage cords and an H&M sweater during the day (and some old school sneaks if you leave the house!). Later that evening, when you are heading out, you just throw on a vintage, leather blazer and rockin' Amir shoes from Italy. Don't be afraid to add some color to your wardrobe either. Men of all skin colors look good in bright blue and purple. Hit me up with any styling questions and I will be happy to help.. send a pic and you might be featured on verseastyle!

Leona Lewis at Jezebel Party!

Atlanta was HOT last night! I ventured out to Jezebel Magazine's 13th Anniversary Party at the W in Buckhead. The majah excitement of the evening was the performance by Leona Lewis!! If possible, she is even more beautiful in person ( I know, I know - some people have all the luck!). Dior was there to show off their new products, so of course I was forced to get my makeup touched up :) Loving the Dior lipstick #640 (serum). I was hipped to an amazing local jewelry designer, Paige Jansen Nichols, who uses antique jewels to create her gorgeous vintage pieces. So thank you Jezebel for another great party and Happy Anniversary - you are looking good at 13!!

I wore a vintage, navy dress with incredible sparkle and an asymmetrical neckline, Calvin Klein shoes and a vintage clutch. I ended up not needing a coat but debated anyway, so must pose the question  - would you have rocked a black, satin trench or a faux fur, black/ white (that actually blends to have a grey look) coat?
