Fellas - no more excuses! There is no reason you can't look stylish, be comfortable and also be just as versatile as the ladies. This outfit is a perfect example. Chill out in vintage cords and an H&M sweater during the day (and some old school sneaks if you leave the house!). Later that evening, when you are heading out, you just throw on a vintage, leather blazer and rockin' Amir shoes from Italy. Don't be afraid to add some color to your wardrobe either. Men of all skin colors look good in bright blue and purple. Hit me up with any styling questions and I will be happy to help.. send a pic and you might be featured on verseastyle!
Atlanta was HOT last night! I ventured out to Jezebel Magazine's 13th Anniversary Party at the W in Buckhead. The majah excitement of the evening was the performance by Leona Lewis!! If possible, she is even more beautiful in person ( I know, I know - some people have all the luck!). Dior was there to show off their new products, so of course I was forced to get my makeup touched up :) Loving the Dior lipstick #640 (serum). I was hipped to an amazing local jewelry designer, Paige Jansen Nichols, who uses antique jewels to create her gorgeous vintage pieces. So thank you Jezebel for another great party and Happy Anniversary - you are looking good at 13!!
I wore a vintage, navy dress with incredible sparkle and an asymmetrical neckline, Calvin Klein shoes and a vintage clutch. I ended up not needing a coat but debated anyway, so must pose the question - would you have rocked a black, satin trench or a faux fur, black/ white (that actually blends to have a grey look) coat?
My absolute favorite go to is black and white. The diamond shape graphics give this look an attention grabbing detail without over indulging in loud colors. Black and white are classic, of course, and anyone can wear. Avoid horizontal stripes as we all know black slims but white reveals and the stripes would not do anyone any good (unless you are a size 0)!! Notice the narrow part of the diamond sits about at my waist and the all black back makes the look more slimming as well. Here are some links where you can buy your own black and white graphic prints from Nicole Miller and K Karl Lagerfeld - not bad prices either for something you can keep in your closet for a long time to come. My tunic is from Target (where else? I am very thrifty these days) as are the leggings and the cardigan. The boots are Nine West.
TAGS Boutique located in the West Village (Smyrna, GA). The beautiful Kandi Burruss of the Real Housewives of Atlanta (pictured with me above!) is the co-owner with Peaches Chin. What a turn out! Fellow RHOA reality stars Kim and Lisa were there to show their support. I will have to go back to actually shop as it was so crowded. Gorgeous men's and women's fashions with most items under $100. Definitely a new must shop spot for me. I have my eye on this black studded dress. I am wearing a Rampage dress and Calvin Klein booties.
Black/ gray checkered dress from Target - so comfy! The pleat under the bust and slight A-line is ideal for any body type. I could wear this dress with so many items to make it look different each time. Today, I wore a short black sweater with a high neck but I need a long black cardigan to wear over it to keep me warm and soften the look a little. Time to go thrifting this weekend!! (Any excuse). I am so proud that these hair clips have been passed down the family tree and I have had them for ages - talk about vintage... they were my great grandmothers!
Ok so who doesn't love Nordstrom?! These looks are exactly what I would like to wear this holiday season. Neutral, neutral everywhere (well except for the fuschia shoes at the end - we all need a pop of color right?!). I think the long cardi with the short cowgirl boots may be my fave of all. Notice it may be a high end store but the prices are right on target for most of these items. Click on each pic for a close up.
Chanel is a classic label that has weathered the test of time; however with the reinvention of the Vionnet label - who do you favor? As a testament to the article by Christina Binkley, see my post entitled "It's A Wrap". Indeed many designers have followed the Vionnet style (ahem DVF)... and we all know I love a wrap dress! I can't wait to see if this label takes off again. Thoughts? (click on article to enlarge)
This dress from Target is the perfect example of how the details completely change an outfit. A few of my friends said they saw this dress but passed it by since it looked like a sack on the hanger and in the dressing room! Try adding a belt to any dress that lacks shape, I could have even worn a navy belt or a completely different burst of color....oh bronze or burgundy would look good! Great - now I want some burgundy leather boots! Must start a wish list - the holidays are approaching :)The detail of the ruffle around the neck is enough for me to keep the earrings simple. Nine West boots. Versace sunglasses.
