Two Worlds Collide

What would happen if the world of Jackie O. and Johnny Depp collided? I am imagining the result would be a fashion dream with a classic silhouette, classic colors and throw some rock n roll in there in the form of accessories.... perhaps a little like this: ??
Deon found this gorgeous vintage dress with matching coat (seen here as a dress) at a vintage store. We have been calling it the Jackie O since I laid my eyes on it and I could not WAIT to try it on and start a photo shoot. You feel so very feminine and grown up when wearing vintage lady like frocks such as this. I had to add some 5" wedges and the "J.D" factor with the green fedora! I can think of endless ways to wear such a verseastyle piece. How would you style this dress? Do tell :) ....

Cyber Monday!

I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving! I know I did. I stuffed myself at my parents house! So over Black Friday shopping so I have not been in a few years. With Cyber Monday you do not have to fight the lines, people and parking haha. So many great deals out there and I have yet to start shopping - you? However to get me in the mood, I think I might have to start with me and get these above since Solestruck is having 50% OFF ALL of their sale shoes today! Count me in.....

Shapka = Russian fur hat with no brim. That is what this hat looks like to me! It was found in a vintage shop along with this fabulous coat. The coat also came with a matching dress which you will see in the next post. The obvious is to wear them together and they look so Jackie-O but since we don't do obvious on here, I had to split them up - plus it just shows each piece off that much better! So added a vintage belt and Jeffrey Campbell Meekers for a little modern edge. The draping, pleats, big shoulders and collar - what's not to love about this great find! Thanks Deon for a fabulous find and photography!

Little Red Riding (in the) Hood

I just love this cape coat I borrowed from my Mom's closet. We used to call her Little Red Riding Hood whenever she wore it over the years and now it is my turn! I like that it looks and feels like a cape but has actual sleeves. The inside is black and red checked which is a cute little surprise when you whirl and turn - you know just an average day at the bus stop :) Loads of people have asked Mom where she bought this coat and she has had it since the eighties so who knows? Probably somewhere in Europe :) Also an old (not quite as old as the cape.. well maybe) black body con dress... seriously no idea where it is from but it keeps on truckin'. Shoes are, of course, Jeffrey Campbell Mariel Wedge in pony hair- where did I shop for shoes before he came along? .... and check out all the mad graffiti!

Lace Dress

I bought this off white lace dress quite a while ago from Charlotte Russe for about $15.00. I don't know why I sometimes wear a new item right away/ for a week straight and sometimes (as in this case) - I don't wear my new item for a while! Who knows!? Anyway, I have reached for this dress a few times and thought it looked too dressy. Of course I have seen other bloggers with leather/ lace and denim/lace combos, but I was holding out for my look to come to me. With the holidays coming up, I will be glad to wear this with black or red heels and go all glam, but for everyday - and not trying to look like a runaway bride either - it was proving difficult to wear without covering most of it up with a big coat or sweater! In comes Tommy Hilfiger comfy wedge boots with shearling liner and noname purse to kind of match (noname is not the designer but rather a purse from a thrift store with no tag inside!), and my freind/ photographer Deon's hat! I love how easy going I felt after these simple little accessory additions. So what are some other ways we could wear a lace dress? and how cool is the purple striped fence?!

Fringed Crusader

It is a cold, rainy and ugly Monday, but pepped it up with orange velvet dress (also seen here) and the trusty leopard boots - which you can see in a couple posts below! I love this fringed sweater cape my Mom got me years and years ago. I love that I can pull the neck up as shown when really cold or wear folded over.  The beige sweater under the cape is from Target! Big white ring from F21. This outfit is so comfortable (and warm!) Have a great week everyone xoxoxo

What are some of the things you are dreaming of?

Loving anything leopard lately. Total for both items $23.49! The skirt I thrifted at a new random joint we found en route to get mexican food for $3.49 - prompting the hubby to think I already knew it was there and did this on purpose - I did not! But what a sweet treat before dinner! (How is it possible to shop when intending to go out to eat? Stick with me and I will show you how to shop in any situation! lol) Not only that, but found a military style black blazer that fit perfect too for $5 - will show that soon I am sure. The boots are from TJ Maxx (by Dollhouse) and were on sale for $20.Velvet is all the rage now too and this velvet top was found in the back of my closet... where it has been sitting for at least 10 years rotating in and out of my 'grab and go' section.

Sweet November

I was in Macy's the other day about to check out with my new jeggings and saw this beauty hanging all by her lonesome - well beside a sweatshirt top that was killer with long leather patches (might have to go back and get that!). In pops the last image in my head of the Alexander Wang cut out dress with leather accents (the sweatshirt actually looked really like the Wang dress above in color and detail more so than the dress I bought) - so I had to get this pretty decent knock. I forget who made it - will update the blog later - but it is as comfy as it looks. The added pockets and deduction of the cut outs makes it all the more wearable as well. I will definately be wearing this a lot... this time was paired with my Guess boots and a wooden bracelet from an arts fair in Charlotte.
The post title is a nod to one of my all time fave movies - Sweet November. If you have not seen it - you should - and alone or with the girls. Charlize Theron and Keanu Reeves give a stellar performance and you will cry your eyes out or your heart is made of stone! Sadness of the story aside, really big reminder of why life is worth living the way you want to live it.
