NY Outfit Diary

In the hotel before we went to FNO
In Soho wearing pink shorts and a sweater from Benetton
Detail shot of the sweater with suede patches at the shoulders
Hanging out in a sweatshirt dress with leather trim and some oxford kicks that I picked up in China town - they had black/white but I went for the brown/tan
Waiting to meet Deon at a park on 5th Ave. - umm yeah no idea who this lady is beside me but kinda made the picture huh?
Speaking of - Deon and I with Marilyn and Johnny in Times Square - in comfy clothes - breaking from the fashion pack for a little...
At a rooftop bar in a navy/black top from Nordstrom..
We are 34 floors up! Check out the spiked bracelet too!
At the hotel before heading off to Lincoln Center wearing a top I picked up in NY (random) which had a longer hem in the back which led to me swapping the top around and around to see which way I liked it better..... and a Benetton skirt which has the best pleat detail and I love the color!
The infamous NY Subway was a sauna this weekend with all the heat.... back to 42nd street!

I am just back from Charlotte Fashion Week and can not wait to share some of the beautiful people and designs with you soon ~ and some exciting news as well xoxox

H by Halston

Collaborations. They're everywhere. We are all familiar by now with quite a few of the clothing hook ups.... most recently Target and Missoni, Macy's and Karl, and H&M and everyone haha. At last an audience without endless expendable income can also now access the beautiful designs of these artists that were once reserved only for the rich. I am excited to see the entire Versace for H&M.

What I haven't really looked into has been the shoes and accessories collabos. I know Christian Siriano for Payless killed it with his designs as I looked everywhere for these babies to no avail when they first came out. There have been a few others but how did H by Halston slip by? At BAKERS? I was seriously floored when I went to Bakers in search of the burgundy boots I have looked for years to find showed up in Seventeen magazine (thanks to my niece Carrie for telling me I HAVE to look at her magazine!) and saw an entire wall of H by Halston. They were amazing. I asked if this was THAT Halston as in from the 70's? YEP - they had glittery platforms, super high wedges, sequins, colors  - take a look here and below.

First - THE burgundy boots... they are mostly suede with a patent back and heel:
H by Halston wedges:

Wild Pair had some good designs as well:

Metallic ahh

The weather has been perfectly fall like the last few days. I love it! Both the skirt and sweater were thrifting finds. Particularly happy about the navy and silver metallic BCBG skirt. I am sure I will have metallic pulls throughout very soon but maybe that will make it look like a little metallic fuzzy skirt ~ which might be even better! The sweater is just enough cozy/grandma style to make the metallic ok for day. I can imagine a million ways to wear it at night as well. The boots have studs around the wedge-ish heel but not obnoxious studding.. kind of barely there studding. Weird taupe grey color and just enough zippers. I bought them on the Akira website (the brand is Qupid Luxe). The grey purse is a new buy - faux leather. It is from a little local antique shop located in Belmont NC.

NYFW Street Style I

I have realized that I may have gone slightly overboard with the street style snaps I took during NYFW! While they are all worth showing you - I may take my time about these posts so that we can really appreciate these styles and give them a shot ourselves! Here we go fashionistas...

Ahhh The Lincoln Center  - home to the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week for the 2nd year in a row.
Love these dresses and the cute hat! Brown and black have been a favorite combination of mine ever since I can remember as that was my Mom's favorite colors to pair as well :)
Could the ladylike red shoes and yellow/white dress be any cuter? And a girl after my own fashion heart as she toughened it up a little with the leather biker jacket.
Nautical cuteness! Do you think they planned to color coordinate so well?! Digging the peter pan collar too..
Style has no age limit. This gentleman above oozes coolness with his casual suit, converse and can you make out the huge silver ring? (left ring finger)
I think me and dude on the right have the same hair color! Woop! Simple outfits on these guys but they look like fashion rock stars!
Droool, swoooooon..... perfection
As further evidenced since apparently not 1, not even 2, but 3 photos were necessary to capture the beauty of her and her dress and ...
 of course THOSE SHOES....
This actually might be the fashion BFF addition - anyone else notice all these couplings in this post?! Classics like the ladies are sporting above never go out of style!
The shoes, the dress, the hat, the hair! Love!
Metallic ballet flats and can't-go-wrong black with a side of plaid, stripes and wedges... which look do you prefer?

Vivienne Tam SS12

One of my favorite collections was the Vivienne Tam SS12 show. The main reason is the wearability of the clothes in this show. She used a lot of floral in either patterns or appliques. I am loving the large floral patterns for spring 12 and also the floatiness of the fabrics used. While it seemed velvet was used in shorts and pants alike it appeared to have a less weighty look than usual.

I actually bought some floaty wide leg pants while in NY similar to the ones above in cut, but with a black and beige tribal print.
Simple yet stunning with the sequins placed in the 'right' places.
I actually found some velvet shorts online before seeing these. Hope I can still order them! I can not wait until it is cool enough to break out my Asos grey velvet pants..
This might be my favorite of the collection. The applique, the pinks, the velvet.... ahhhh
These pants are just floral fabulosity! I want! A men's chambray shirt would work just as well or another patterend shirt in the same color family since I see we will be sticking to pattern mixing well into Spring.
The tap shorts are just too cute! Wait until you see the trends and beauties that were outside of the V.T. show!

Whew - what a week! Just back from NYFW and ready to share everything with you! This was my first time to go to FNO in NY. Let's just say it was the super madhouse you would expect and I loved every minute of it. Warning: there will be loads of pics the next week or so while I unload 300+ pics. And heeeeeere we go....

 me at Matthew Williamson:
Playland in the West Village with music and bouncy ball escape options:

 Hugo Boss was packed!
My sister came with me and we had the best time - loving the pink shrug:
 Matthew Williamson:
The one and only Alexander McQueen:
 Stella McCartney:
I have drooled over this sheer paneled polka dot Stella dress since I first saw it. Still in love:
Outside Scoop in the West Village:
 Inside Scoop:

The longest line all night award goes to Diane Von Furstenberg!
Saw these two beauties a couple of times - they stood out among the throngs of fashionistas:
I bought the grey FNO shirt below and wished I would have gotten the shoes and leather skirt too!
 Outside Vince, Intermix and STK:
Having a laugh with my sister (she is not on the bike but rather taking the picture haha):

You have to be there to actually feel the energy and excitement that happens at FNO NY before the NYFW kickoff. It was truly amazing. I wore BB Dakota sheer panel shorts, vintage slip and vintage faux fur vest with 9 West shoes. Stay tuned for more updates!
