Neutral Zone

Wearing neutrals or monotone clothing doesn't have to equate to boring. The less color you wear the more you can accentuate details such as accessories, patterns, contrasting materials etc. Pile on the jewels or mix non matching pritns (same neutral colors)!

Anne Fontaine Lace Collar

This season the focus is all about the neck: accessories wise. We have been gearing up in seasons past with fur, scarves, detachable collars and silver tips. Been there, done that. So, in addition to all of the beautiful, bold necklaces now gracing the scene, I stopped dead in my tracks when I was at an event at Phipps recently: the Anne Fontaine window...

brilliantly focusing on the neck and combining another FW12 trend: lace!

 I want one yesterday...

1 Gold Tank: 5 Occasions

As we have discussed many times here on VerseaStyle - clothes can be and are meant to be worn many different ways to suit different occasions, shapes, personal preferences etc. A gold tank sounds harmless enough but put it out there alone and gasp it looks shiny, tacky(?), and 80's ish to most, therefore staying at the back of the closet, in the stores or at a thrift store peeking out only at Halloween time. Click for 5 different ways to wear a gold tank right now!

Weekend Wear
Pair a gold tank with white jeans for a more casual look.

Downtown Diva
Cuffed, pleated beige shorts and vibrant accessories will keep you cool while looking hot!

Flirty Fun
Pair with a ruffled floral skirt and strappy Gucci heels for date night or a brunch with the girls.

Classic Cut
Wide leg khakis instantly make anything look more toned down and classic.
Python pumps and a gold clutch add a personal flair.

Wild Woman
Leopard print crops and tough girl heels make this a night out for cocktails kind of outfit.

This particular gold tank is from Chicos and yes there is silver as well! VerseaStyle challenges you to pull out your gold tank, get to the stores or even pick up a lame one (oh yes) from a thrift store and try some of these outfits with your own pieces!

Resort '12

Current favorite swimwear by NYCC was a gift. The floral print and tropical colors paired with a cute seashell trim and a generous cut makes this a must have style for summer's pool parties and jet setting!

Purely an intermission from the VerseaStyle Magazine article coming up and the fashion of 2012. Here you see a vintage 1950's style dress with absolutely nothing to change! The black and white palette, stripes against polka dots, buttons down the spine and the most classic of shapes proves that simple, elegant and well constructed pieces can last a lifetime.

5 Hot Short Hairstyles to Try Now!

Summer is almost here! Long days, warm nights and a heated up social schedule make this the perfect time to try a new short hairstyle! Short hair is versatile and anyone can look great, the secret is to find the cut that is right for you.

Before you go for the chop, consider these three factors:

1.Face Shape:

Oval shapes can pretty much look great in any cut, so be sure to concentrate on the next two factors. Round shapes need some height to elongate the face. Stay away from volume on the sides of your face as this well tend to make your face look wide. Oblong shapes are the opposite to round and require some volume at the sides and less volume on top to make the face appear wider. For diamond/ heart shapes the best short cut would have layers and bangs (full or sideswept).
2.Hair Type:

Consider whether you have fine, thick, straight, or curly hair as this is important. To fight the natural pattern of your hair every morning defies one of the main purposes to having short hair - saving time! Don't forget to look at cow licks, curl patterns, weight of hair etc. Your professional stylist will help you with this. Preferably a stylist that has worked with your hair previously, but if not, one that specializes in your hair type would be worth the money.

3.Fear Factor:

Do you dive right into the pool or descend one step at a time? Gradually going short may be better for you if you are not one that is great with drastic changes!

Make sure to tell the salon you would like extra consulting time prior to your actual appointment time to discuss a major change. Take one of the new looks below or find a picture you like, just take a visual of some sort to your stylist. Believe me, we all think our direction and vision is clear but "short" has many different meanings.

With your new cut you will find you get ready faster, use less products and just feel differently. Confident, edgy and modern are all words we associate with women who wear a short cut well. Celebrities like Halle Berry, Ginnifer Goodwin and Ellen DeGeneres are perfect examples of women that have found a short cut to really showcase how beautiful they are. Here are five hot short hairstyles to try for this Summer!

Change is good

Life is full of changes, by choice or not. Naturally we change as we age; it happens to all of us. Appearance, health, relationships, careers, homes and even husbands can change, by choice or not. In life there are always two paths to any situation: choose to embrace or not.

I'd like to think on a personal level I am the former. I certainly embrace a multitude of changes outwardly, as evidenced on VerseaStyle. No, I'm not positive all of the time, but am learning the value of the meaning "change what you can and accept what you can't". Changes have happened at the speed of light in a short time, some by choice and some not.

VerseaStyle is also changing. After 2.5 years, it's time. I have realized that the personal style diary and things-I-love-in-fashion just won't cut it for my readers any longer. Albeit some harsh advice but true none the less, VerseaStyle had not embraced versatility and that the true reason for starting VerseaStyle in the first place had been lost. VerseaStyle is the ability to adapt and embrace the versatility of life's changes with style. So on to new changes... after all, change is coming, by choice or not.

Spring Board

Testing out a mix of the Maybelline and Revlon lipsticks from below. I would love a perfect coral ..
Reds and oranges from last summer, which I am mixing and matching for something 'new' now.
The Sak roots clutch in a beautiful mix of colors and tribal prints and dyed bone bracelets purchased from 10,000 Villages. I am really into throwing these accessories on with anything right now to brighten up my monotone mood as I get ready for my annual weird transition to color after the winter!

Long, flowing, gorgeous hair is definitly considered sexy by most, but most don't naturally have a crowning glory! I consider myself pretty lucky in the hair department with a lot of brown curly strands that grow pretty fast. If you have followed me for a while you may have seen anything from a pixie to a bob to down my back and red, blond, brunette and some in between! I love switching it up but hate the 'process' of growing out any style. Enter Extensions. I started playing with Jessica Simpson clip ons and they can be fun but not so matchable to my hair. In January I decided I wanted long hair for a little while and started the research. I will save you some time and just go to Xclusive Hair Studio for a consultation. Visit their website here and you can find out all about the different methods before you go in. We decided to go with the micro link method and a half head of 16" and 18" mix. Rassalyn ordered the hair on Friday and by Monday I felt like Rapunzel. Here are the before and after pics since that is what you want to see after all!

The juice: The staff are experienced and sweet - need I say more? The hair care is easier than my own long hair. The verdict? I WILL be getting extensions again and we all know how fast I get bored!
