Hello 2012! Time to look back at those September shows and gear up for Spring as we all know that will be our shopping options whether we are ready or not. The usual colors (this time more pastel) and florals (bright and big and head to toe) are always refreshing after the winter months, but the one trend that will be most exciting to see unfold will be the peplum. Done properly, we will have a more defined waist and of course done unproperly will be the super wide hip syndrome. I adore the Giorgio Armani look above and Alice and Olivia below. These are both smaller peplums that stop above the hip. The monotone and black on bottom also help to achieve a slimmer silhouette.
A cheaper and faster idea that you could incorporate now would be to take a capelet from this season and tie it around your waist to create a peplum. This ostrich feather one below was found on etsy and can be customized to your neck waist size- I would assume.
As always I suggest to scour some thrift stores and find a capelet and do a DIY. I remember my sisters pink furry capelet she wore to NY FNO last year and that would be perfect to try!
